Green Zebra was conceived by two long-time friends. We were looking to embrace a lifestyle that promoted the health of our families, community, and planet. Like many people, we found ourselves so busy that we were operating based on convenience, rather than a conscious decision-making process. One day we realized it was time to slow down and start asking questions about the way we were living our lives. While researching our options we learned a lot, and met wonderful people who contribute to the unique character of San Francisco. We became inspired to try to play a role in preserving the city’s livability, and to help make San Francisco greener in the process.

We are often amazed that what started out as our personal journey of discovery evolved into a community project that has brought together government agencies, non-profit organizations, civic leaders and businesses, large and small. We are thrilled that Green Zebra, a healthier alternative to most traditional fundraising products, is benefiting public and private schools, as well as non-profit organizations interested in building community and preserving the environment.

Our goal is for readers to view the Green Zebra guide as a starting point for their own exploration of the many healthy and natural options we are so fortunate to have in the Bay Area. We hope you have as much fun using your Green Zebra guide as we did creating it. It is our intention that as we continue to learn and grow, we will expand the guide and its offerings. We would love to hear from you, so please send us your thoughts and suggestions. Thanks in advance for helping make San Francisco a more sustainable place to live and work.
